Electric Vehicle (EV) Car Charging Installations

It bears explanation, that in fact the components, called the Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE), to charge the car, are built into the electric vehicle (EV). So the “car charger” simply connects the vehicle’s charging system to your house’s electrical grid to provide the source of electricity.

There are 2 types of electric car charging systems.

Level 1, is the standard or base charging station. It consumes the same amount of power as a level 2 station and is slower. It is also less expensive.

Level 2, the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE’s) charge your vehicle most efficiently and in the least amount of time, using a 240v circuit. While more expensive this fast charging system may allow you to charge your vehicle at off peak electricity rate times.
